The Minnesota Principals Academy is a powerful and much-needed source of support for principals across our state as they play their critical and challenging roles in improving schools and raising student achievement. It was created in collaboration with the Minnesota Department of Education, Minnesota Elementary School Principals' Association, the Minnesota Association of Secondary School Principals, and the University of Minnesota. Participant registration fees are supported through funding from the Minnesota Legislature and participant districts.
The Minnesota Principals Academy is housed in the Department of Organizational Leadership, Policy and Development (OLPD) in the College of Education and Human Development (CEHD) at the University of Minnesota.
The MN Principals Academy was recently highlighted in a Grand Forks Herald article.
"Principals rarely get an opportunity to attend professional development, and Katie Pekel, a program coordinator who works for the University of Minnesota, described the domino effect of the program.
Staff and teachers benefit by adopting the new research principals learn according to the needs of their schools, and students benefit by being exposed to the most current and relevant instructional strategies, she said."
